Mongolia, the country of the nomads, untouched by human hand, where fences do not limit the pastures, and the rivers meander unhindered through the grass landscape forming several lanes, passing the broad valley of the mountains. The country of the almost endless steppe and the eternally blue sky. The further one reaches into this simple yet mysterious country, the more one is amazed by various regions, with ever changing color play. So far the eye can see, there is steppe. Far ahead the sky seems to drop onto the earth, and then while driving on, one has the impression, the earth road leads directly up into the skies. A curious smell when breathing in the herb filled air of the steppe, walking on multicolored wild flower carpets . One of the most famous deserts of the world, the Gobi desert, is inseparably tied to Mongolia . The faces of Gobi are manifold .The Gobi desert not only consists of thin sand, but holds oases with small lakes, and small ,sturdy Gobi trees.The Fata Morgana in the Gobi paints imaginative pictures to the horizon. The Mongolian Altai extends from the Northwest to Southwest, merging into the Gobi Altai and the Gobi desert . White crowned mountains in the North and in the West, with all sorts of trees, coniferous, lark timbered high mountains with broad valleys. The picturesque nature in the smooth transitions of steppe, Gobi and high mountains seems to be right out of a fairy tale to the beholder .

  1. Day, Tuesday, 06.07.2010, Individual arrival in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia.

  2. Day, Wednesday, 07.07.2010, Arrival in the early morning at the Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar. We will welcome you at the airport. Transfer to the hotel. Relax at midday and after lunch we will explore the city of Ulaanbaatar.

  3. Day, Thursday, 08.07.2010, Ride to sand dunes in Karakorum and camping in tents.

  4. Day, Friday, 09.07.2010, Drive to Karakorum, founded in 1220 by Chinggis Khan. Genghis Khan at Karakorum. His successors were warlike Khans showing here a second totally different face.Due to their tolerant attitude towards everything new and unknown their capital in the 13th Century not only became the control center of the imperial administration and a center of commerce and crafts, but also a melting pot of different religions, cultures and peoples. Today we visit the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia (1586), which is located on the outskirts of the city of Karakorum, the capital of the medieval Mongol Empire.

Day, Saturday, 10.07.2010, Proceed to the monastery Tuvkhun Hiid, built 1653, including the "Land Of Happy Solitude," The name for the grounds, once chosen to be a sanctuary of meditation for the first Mongolian Buddhist saint Öndör Gegeen Zanabazar, "Great Enlightened One". Here he developed Soyombo script and produced his most famous works, the portraits of the five Dhyana Buddhas, and the sculptures of the 21 Taras. The Soyombo symbol still adorns the national flag of Mongolia and the history, tradition and independence is represented by the Mongols. He is considered as the largest Buddhist sculptor of his time. In the West he is called "Michelangelo of the East", stating the extraordinary beauty of his works. The monastery is located in a prime position on one of the deciduous forests, covered with beautiful mountains on the wall. It is culturally very important and has been declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Workshop

  6. Day, Sunday, 11.07.2010, Naadam, National Day of Mongolia. The origin of the festival goes back to the kuriltai - clan meeting were the social highlights during the Middle Ages -. The 11th July was later rededicated as revolutionsday to National Day and recalls the declaration of independence of the country in 1921. The Naadam festival is primarily a sporting event like the Olympics. The Mongolians compete in the three traditional Mongolian sports: wrestling, archery and horse racing.
    We are witnessing the Naadam festival in regional capital Tsetserleg. In the evening proceed to a nomadic family and spend the night there.

  7. Day, Monday, 12.07.2010, Trip to Terkhin Tsagaan Nuur, a beautiful lake. The Terkhin Nuur Tsaggan Arkhangai is surrounded by mountains and is situated near the famous Khorgo volcano. A hike over lava fields, up to 2,600 meters high Khorgo crater with a beautiful view down. Staying overnight at the lake. Workshop

  8. Day, Tuesday, 13.07.2010, Continue shopping after Murun on the market. Accommodation in the area.

  9. 10. und 11. Day, Wednesday, 14.-16.07.2010, Continuation to Huvsgul lake. 3 days we stay in a yurt camp on Huvsgul lake with crystal clear water and explore the Mongolian taiga, riding, walking. The deep, clear lake is so huge that it almost equivalent to an inland sea and the nature around the lake is breathtaking. Shamanism is still intact and alive, and determines the lives of people. Workshop.

  1. Day, 17.07.2010, About Murun we go to uranium Togoo mountain. Stay on the river Hanuy gol. Here we experience the changing landscape of the taiga to Hangai.

  2. Day, 18.07.2010, We continue to Amarbaysgalant to the monastery. Here we are taking the day off to enjoy the beautiful area.

  3. Day, 19.07.2010 We drive on to Ulaanbaatar - in direction to Darkhan - at midday we'll arrive in Ulaanbaatar. The afternoon will be free time to spend as you please. !

  4. Day, 20.07.2010 Departure. Breakfast and transfer to the airport.
